So what are boat-landings now? There are more and more wind turbines in the sea, and although the wind may blow by itself, even these colossal wind turbines need regular maintenance! A steel structure, called a boat-landing, hangs from each mast for this purpose, where maintenance vessels can moor.
With 106 boat-landings en route to Eemshaven
Daems Pilot Service made sure they arrived safely from Arendonk to the shipyard in Eemshaven, Groningen. A trip of 330 Km to the northernmost tip of the Netherlands, with transports of 4.3 meters wide! In the Eemshaven, they will be put on the new ship of Jan De Nul which will take them to the coast of Germany. There they are put into the sea. The boat-landing is part of the foot planted in the sea on which the wind turbine will be placed. The whole foot weighs about 1,500 tons! We arranged the permits for the transport, the escort and the transport itself. A great job, which we enjoyed doing!
